Kogatana, a small japanese knife to split bamboo
The kogatana is a small Japanese knife which is very useful for splitting bamboo slats into thinner strips.
Its blade is very sharp, which allows it to divide green bamboo and dry bamboo easily. You can also use the kogatana to remove knots from bamboo sections.
To split bamboo easily, you can also wedge the kogatana with a G clamp, and pull on the bamboo slat to divide or refine it. This will allow you to divide the bamboo slices into strips with a thickness of less than 1 millimeter.
